Good Transcribing Skills are a Must
A remote legal transcription career requires excellent grammar and spelling skills, a strong command of the English language and the ability to produce a high quality product. Applicants with a minimum of three years’ legal transcription experience or experience working in a law office setting are preferred.
Speed and Accuracy Count
E-Typist provides legal transcribing for hundreds of clients, so the ideal candidate will need to quickly demonstrate the ability to transcribe dictation in varying degrees of difficulty, including heavy regional accents, rapid speaking, distorted audio, and background noise. We expect an average turnaround of three times the length of the audio file.
Equipment Needed
Remote legal transcriptionists will need:
- A desktop or laptop computer with Windows, MS Office, WordPerfect and Express Scribe programs installed
- A professional transcription pedal such as the infinity wav foot pedal and high quality headphones
- DSL or other high speed internet connection
- A smartphone

We are seeking experienced legal transcriptionists to join our team of independent typists! Work anytime from anywhere. Court Transcription requires the ability to transcribe audio files of electronic court recordings such as hearings and pleadings. Experience in this field is required for the position. - Transcribe lengthy audio dictations accurately from recorded courtroom hearings.
- Properly format these transcriptions based on industry standards and client preferences.

- Conduct basic research as needed to ensure the accuracy and completeness of your work.
Qualifications
- One year or more of work in the legal field, including court reporting and legal transcription experience, within the last five-year period.
- Specific experience and a good working knowledge of the set-up of court hearing documents, depositions, etc.
- Know how to format a transcript appropriately between colloquy and Q & A.
- Be able to read and comprehend court reporter notes.
- Must have above-average listening skills. Able to discern different voices and transcribe accurately even when people are talking over one another. Listen carefully and narrate accurately at the same time.
- Must be fluent in English and possess a strong working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, along with knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
- Comfortable working independently and efficiently under time constraints to turn work in on time.

- Maintain verbatim accuracy of 95% or after the first 30 days.
- Maintain spelling accuracy rating of 95% or higher after first 30 days.
- Maintain formatting accuracy rating of 95% or higher after first 30 days.

- One year or more of transcription and word processing experience in an office environment, within the last five-year period.
- Must have above-average listening skills to be able to discern different voices and transcribe accurately even when people are talking over one another. If using a voice recognition program, must listen carefully and narrate accurately at the same time.
- Must be fluent in English and possess a strong working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word 2007 or newer, including advanced formatting features.
- Must possess excellent listening skills, be comfortable working independently and must proofread all documents before submitting.
