We recently shared this article from Attorney at Work, which outlined just a few (of the many) ways that support staff make it possible for an attorney to continue to practice law. The post highlights the importance of the relationship between lawyers and their staff.

For every long-standing relationship between a lawyer and his office manager, there are several that won’t even last a year

Thinking about this relationship and the ways that it can make or break a lawyer’s business life brought to mind the currently most famous of legal secretaries: Suits’ Donna. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you now have a new show for your binge-watch list!)

And if you have been watching, you know that even the best long-standing staff relationships need to be nutured and not taken for granted.

Your Success Depends on More than Just You

Hopefully you’ve already figured out that you can’t run a law firm/be a successful lawyer/be awesome all by yourself. You’re awesome at what you do, but you need people who are awesome at the other stuff to make the wheels of business turn smoothly. Because they don’t teach you how to keep track of clients, organize your files the most efficiently, or write a great client intake form in law school.

You are good at lawyering, but you need at least one other super administrative mind to help you get, keep, and manage those clients who you are doing the lawyering for.

Do you really have time to investigate which CRM software is the best? Probably not. And you shouldn’t. Taking the time to learn and research technology options, or how best to set up your financial books, or taking initial calls from potential clients, is not a good use of your time. This is why you need a great admin who knows about all these things already.

Ok, I Need Help, Now What?

If you aren’t in a situation where you are already provided with administrative help, then you may feeling stuck. When are you going to find the time to write a job ad, read resumes, do interviews, and train someone??

That’s where a company like E-Typist and our E-Typist Expanded Services service comes in handy. We’ve already done the legwork for you. We only hire experienced legal sectretaries who are the best at what they do.

Your personal E-Typist Expanded Services assistant works with you to develop a relationship that will enable you to be the most productive you’ve ever been. Instead of answering every crazy question from everyone who calls you, let your assistant handle incoming questions and client intake. Our assistants know the ins and outs of the legal world, too, so they can help you with document preparation, research, and any other time-sucking tasks you are trying to avoid.

What if I Already Have an Assistant?

Congratulations! Keep that relationship in great shape by taking the repetitive, non-legal, or just plain boring tasks off your assistant’s shoulders and hand them off to an E-Typist support person. Your assistant will be happy to use the time to do in-depth legal work that s/he’s trained for and probably like you better for it!

The great thing about E-Typist assistants is that you don’t have to worry about keeping them busy for 40 hours a week: you only pay for the time you need! Don’t have enough work for a few weeks? No problem! Have a low-key week and then a really busy one? Again, no problem: pay for the time you need us, and we are flexible enough to get you the help you need exactly when you need it.
